I was raised in San Jose, California and spent my summers in Pinecrest, California where my parents had a cabin.  It was here my love for the outdoors began. After high school I attended Chico State University where I met my wife Anya.  I was stationed in Germany for 3 years with the US Army; deploying to Bosnia in support of Operation Joint Endeavor driving a Bradley Fighting Vehicle for Delta Company 1/26 Infantry.  After that, I became a 4th grade teacher for 3 years in Alum Rock Unified in San Jose.  Currently, I work for an educational technology company in New Zealand and cover parts of North America and Australia.

I bought a camera in 2010 to photograph my children, and I quickly realized that photographing nature was very important to me (I still love photographing my kids).

I would love to leave an affection of the wilderness behind to my children.  Specifically, the love of wild                                                                 places that fall more than a casual effort away.
